Role Description

The Mechanical Design Engineer will work in a full-time, remote role, contributing to the design and development of mechanical components and assemblies for gas and liquid analyzers and related systems. Day-to-day responsibilities include creating and refining mechanical designs, preparing detailed CAD models and drawings, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to align product design with performance, safety, and manufacturing requirements. The engineer will participate in design reviews, perform basic engineering calculations, and support prototype development and testing.

Key Responsibilities

• Design sensor housings, probes, IP-rated enclosures, flameproof housings, and rack-mount panels using SolidWorks.
• Create detailed manufacturing drawings, 2D/3D files, and BOMs in coordination with the electrical/electronics team.
• Understand and implement sealing solutions (gaskets, O-rings), material selection, and mechanical protection principles for IP66/IP67 environments.
• Coordinate with vendors and fabricators for prototype development, modifications, and production follow-up.
• Conduct internal mechanical trials such as dust testing, component fitting, and field-assembly verification.
• Support product testing, compliance checks, and QC documentation for regulatory submissions.
• Maintain revision control and version management for all mechanical drawings and BOMs.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including R&D, Electronics, Purchase, and Production to ensure timely execution of projects.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• 6–10 years of hands-on experience in mechanical design, preferably in industrial instrumentation or environmental monitoring systems.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks including modelling, drafting, and assembly, along with tolerance stack-up and GD&T.
• Knowledge of fabrication techniques including machining, turning, laser cutting, welding, and powder coating.
• Good understanding of sensor integration, instrument panel layouts, and Design for Manufacturability (DFM).
• Ability to read and prepare technical drawings, BOMs, and process documentation.
• Experience in coordinating with vendors and resolving fabrication and assembly challenges.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage complete tender lifecycle on the GeM portal (bid participation to order execution)

• Generate quotes: Work directly with sales executives to create accurate, professional, and timely quotations for customers based on their specific inquiries and requirements. Drafts and prepares the initial price quotes based on the specifications gathered by the on-site executive.
• Sourcing and configuring products: For complex products, the internal team handles the back-office product configuration, ensuring the quote aligns with all customer needs and technical requirements.
• Ensure accuracy: Review all quotes for completeness and compliance with company policies and procedures before they are sent to the customer in co-orination /approval of Sales representative. They double-check all quotes for errors and ensure that the pricing and terms comply with company policy. The internal team ensures all quotes use correct pricing and the latest product information, reducing the risk of costly errors.
• Adding branding and collateral: The team can add approved marketing materials, such as brochures or case studies, directly to the quote document, ensuring a consistent brand experience.
• Coordinate with external sales: Communicate with on-site sales executives to ensure quote details align with their customer conversations and strategies.
• Manage customer data: Accurately enter and maintain quote details, customer information, and project statuses within the company’s customer relationship management (CRM) software.
• Order processing: Process the customer’s purchase orders and coordinate with relevant departments like logistics and production to ensure timely delivery.
• Expedite requests: Handle requests for rush orders and communicate with the logistics team to make any necessary adjustments.
